Why has my honey crystallised?

Do not worry. Your honey has not gone bad.

Crystallisation is a normal process of nature. It is one of the signs that your honey is real, raw and unprocessed.

This is completely normal. You can still eat it exactly as it is. Spread it on toast. Stir it into tea. Use it on oats, yoghurt, pancakes or fresh bread. Many people enjoy crystallised honey because it is easier to spread and has a rich texture.

How to make it liquid again

Place the closed honey jar in a bowl or pot of warm water <50°C.

Let it stand for around an hour pending on the size.

Repeat the process until the honey becomes liquid again.

Use warm water, not boiling water. Gentle heat is enough.

Leave the honey in the sun it will also help to turn it into liquid.

What not to do

·       Do not microwave your honey.

·       Do not boil your honey.

·       Do not place it directly on a stove plate.

·       Do not leave it in direct high heat.

Too much heat can damage the natural taste, colour and goodness of raw honey.

Do not store it in the fridge, because cold temperatures can make crystallisation happen faster.

So, when your Bosveld Goud honey crystallises, see it as nature doing what nature does.

It is still pure.

It is still good.

It is still Bosveld Goud.
