Bosveld Goud works with the African honey bee, Apis mellifera scutellata. This bee is built for the Bosveld.

These bees react fast when disturbed. They protect the hive with speed and strength. This is not aggression without reason. It is survival. In the wild, that matters.

Apis mellifera scutellata evolved in harsh African conditions where survival depended on strength, speed, and resilience.

In dry climates, nectar and water are not always guaranteed. Colonies had to protect their hive, honey stores, and brood from predators and competing bees. Over time, nature favored colonies that could defend themselves, adapt quickly, and survive changing conditions.

Their ability to move, swarm, and rebuild quickly is part of what makes them successful in the wild. These traits help maintain healthy colonies that can continue producing pure, natural honey from the rich floral diversity of the Bosveld.
